You gave me mine

When you are short of breath,
I remember that you gave me mine.
Mommy I love you to death.
Everything will  be just fine.

When we finally got the news,
Immediately I closed my eyes and prayed.
Our paths aren't one that we can choose.
I wish that I could've stayed.

Stayed with you to hold your hand,
When they gave  you the  answer.
 So unexpected, so unplanned,
When they said that you have cancer.

I would share my lungs with you.
Since I remember that you gave me mine.
There's nothing that I wouldn't do,
You gave me life by your design.

You're the strongest person that I know.
If anyone can do this I know it's you.
I'm so thankful that you helped me grow,
Into someone just as strong as you!

Whenever you feel it in your heart,
I remember that you gave me mine.
I'd take my entire heart apart,
And rebuild it to fit our design.

I promise mommy I'll never give up.
You're my rock, my world my everything.
I have enough hope to fill the rest of the cup.
Let my love fill your lungs and keep breathing.
