Ray

Hali oumer 2005 (Ethiopia)

Your eyes scream,
Your mouth just sighs,
Your nose wrinkled,
Your eyebrows rise.
You twirl around,
On a muddy ground,
And hope to see,
A flicker of light,
Make its way through,
The holes in your heart.
You dig and dig,
Then find a ray.
You stop searching,
And embrace it, "hey!"
"I finally found it,
Its my lucky day"
You don't bend down,
or look at it.
You just keep it safe,
Tucked inside your heart.
And wait for your way,
And your life to be,
Brighter, clearer,
For everyone to see.
You ignore the heat,
That's in your heart.
You pretend not to be,
Hurting inside.
You say its worth it,
That the ray's your light.
You never once look down,
To see for what it is.
your friends see the fire,
where the ray came from,
They tell you to let go,
That you're better alone.
You never listen though,
And the flame burns your soul.
If you had digged deeper,
You would have seen the flame,
Or rather found better,
The one that you deserve.
But you held on to it,
Even if deep down you knew,
That It's a toxic one,
And would destroy you.

So please don't forget,
The rays are countless.
The ones that you found first,
Don't have to be the best.
There might be a brighter one,
You should just did deeper,
Don't settle for the gold,
The diamond is bigger
