A New Inflection

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

This is where we started Lord
When we had so far to go
But then we went to many places
I did not want to go

You knew that I’d be driving here
And traveling far from home
So, in your wisdom you let me go
And out there I did roam

Then lost and confused I turned to you
To get some new direction
And to my surprise when you opened my eyes
I heard a new voice inflection

You’re calling out to me O Lord
Saying: Come home now my son
You’ve been outside for way too long
And it hasn’t been much fun
