Alone

Harold Creggan 1950 (Tadcastor)

Alone,
           within one's self,
                    locked away,
                              from life's warm touch.
I don't remember mother's warm hugs,
           or father's kisses.
Is it because they never were?
That I just don't remember?
           surely I'd recall,
                   a loving touch.
My Spanish eyes, she touched me,
           with softness,
                   and possession.
Where has she gone?
please I don't want to be alone,
                   anymore.
