Inside I’m screaming

They pass me by as I sit and beg
No looking up all I see is leg
At times they stop and want to talk
Listen, care ,but no need to gawk

Life was not always going this way
I once felt strong and had no need to stray
I had a job a family as well
One trauma too many and then I fell

I fell so deep and to try and ease
The inner turmoil the lack of peace
The endless stream of thoughts and feelings
That led me straight to endless dealing
I wanted a relief and in drugs I found
A temporary escape from a head that pounds
I Escaped the hurt for a little bit
Then it became hit after hit
No escaping after the start
Gave up hope and closed my heart

I sit here begging with my eyes so grey
All my hope has gone away
Being abused by passers bye
Makes me hard ,no tears left to cry

In total despair just needing you to be kind
Then Someone leans down with a where to find
I see more than his legs that day
I seen an old friend I thought had passed away
He told me then with a spark in his eyes
His life had changed he no longer wishes to die
He found others who stopped the drugs
Replaced them with kindness and hugs
He found NA. And had healed his heart
All he wanted from me was the chance to start
I started that day with hope being given
Not sure how I’d cross that bridge to living
Now years have passed , my life has changed
Internal hurts now re arranged
Despair has now been changed to hope
Embroiled in fellowship , no need for dope

All they asked was to give away
The hope that was freely given that day
It was more than hope I seen in his eyes
It was disregarding the constant lies
That once your hooked you can’t ever cease
That lie is dead we do find peace
Please pass it on and seek to give
In order that someone may find hope to live

Inside I’m screaming

I love the fact I have these stories inside which can be brought to the surface and install hope that people change , and usually through that initial glimmer set by someone else , and affording others the opportunity to be involved in the whole process of change being within reach for all more…
