Autumn

John Kim 2009 (California)

Autumn, a transient season

Fluttering leaves drift aflutter

In scarlet and xanthic flashes

Cooling zephyrs color branches

Fallen leave stutter

As lashings of a silken tapestry

Golden kernels, like glistening chatoyants

Goldenrod stalks that seep to rushes

Aromas of fresh cakes and warm croissants

Filling with butter and heavy lushness

The glittering navy lakes

across thanksgiving escapes

Falling leaves, scraps of glitter

Fall on the shrine's pond, with a shimmer

as the conclusion of the heat arises

amass the joyous crowds

The gelid frost may act as vices

but remember the warmth, all its thorough niceness

We gather petioles, weave our wreaths

commemorate this lovely morn

The fluttering sunlight, a sword unsheathed

We welcome autumn, once more

About this poem

This poem expresses my feelings about the season of autumn, the beginning of cool weather, a relief here in California.
