A Knight

Matthew Thomas 1976 (Adelaide)

A Knight

My brother my best friend
We been travelling round the same old bend
When will this train arrive at the station
No leave and no vacation
Can you hear the whistle of a lonely bird
The first, the second and the third
Everywhere I look I see your face
The shadow behind me in it’s place
Far beyond I heard your cry
Every whisper and every sigh
We sailed the seas
Sometimes without a breeze
The storm shows little mercy
Relentless and always thirsty
A knight holding a lance
Forever young without a glance...
