Romance in Recovery

Salt-stained sheets which rock to sleep,
Those who live to please.
Lust, another addiction,
Driven by a carnal need.

With peace of mind comes pain of heart,
Consumed by fear of the unknown,
Desperately trying to find myself,
Whilst not letting go off things outgrown.

A head filled with uncertainties,
I cannot trust in my own brain.
Constantly questioning my own thoughts,
Wondering if any of this is sane.

Serenity in sobriety,
If only that were currently true.
Lost again I find myself,
Not knowing what to do.

Patience is a virtue,
Good things come to those who wait,
So reluctantly I let go to god,
Trust in my uncertain fate.

God grant me the courage,
To find love for myself.
To ask not of others,
To seek only strength of self

Let me learn to be patient,
Help me to be kind.
Lead me down the path of righteousness
Heal my troubled mind.

Forgive me my sins,
Let me live a better way,
Give me the strength to do your will,
At least just for today.
