American Solider

He's Everybody's hero the good guy

The one that helps
The one that fights
The helpful neighbor
The best friend
The all around good American

But what they can't see is he's the one that puts on a good face the one that thinks he's easily replaced

He's everybody's hero dependable as can be

But behind all his smoke and mirrors he fights a battle that can't be seen

He's everybody's hero strong and bold

With a fake smile he wears day by day he slowly starts to fade away waiting for the day it'll come to an end

But he's everybody's hero

Yet he's living a lie hiding the true man he is inside the man he truly wants to be the beast he wants to set free

Never knowing when it's ok to show his true shade

Working so hard to built those walls so high that he trys to hide behind

They come tumbling down with just one touch to find a villain waiting to be loved

Someone waiting to be set free

To be themselves and not what everyone else wants them to be

A man who would burn the world to embers for someone he loved

A man of conviction
A man of passion for the unheard of
A lover of choas
A man of my dreams

So he's everybody's hero

but behind the scene
I'll cherish him for the villain he was meant to be

About this poem

American soldiers are compared to superheroes and a superhero will sacrifice the one for the many but a villain will sacrifice the whole world for the one they love. Most people don't see the demons that are on the inside nor do they embrace them but Soliders get a chance to see it all and embrace it.
