Accept the Call

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The fire is burning in the furnace
But soon it will break out
Look! He is coming on the clouds!
I heard the angel shout

The hand is writing on the wall
There’s no more time my friend
The masses are about to fall
We’ve surely reached the end.

If I could send time in a letter
I would write you a little more
But now it’s almost over;
See you on that distant shore

And if I do not see you there
Perhaps you didn’t make it
So now I’m giving you a call
I hope that you will take it.
