Limelight and Shadow

Limelight and Shadow

"Daazle dazzle, I dazzle everywhereI go.
Fans cheer me where ever I go."
"So bright is my light."
"And you poor shadow your just
a shapeless character with a dark attire,"

"You have no fans, no admirer
And your position is in the rear."

"You stoop so low"
said Limelight to Shadow,

"You have no words to express yourself,
You do not have any colours to show your beauty."

Than just as Shadow drooped in sadness,
A childs laughter lit up the room,
"Look Mummy look at my shadow on the wall. Isn't it beautiful?"
"The shadow follows the shapes we make on the wall and look how pretty these shapes look."
"And Mummy I can even touch my Shadow yet it never runs away."
The childs mother replied"thats the beauty of a shadow"

Limelight was aghast with shadow and said"Shadow you stole my limelight"

It was the first time shadow spoke,
"All I was ,was being myself"

About this poem

This poem is based between two fictitious characters Limelight and Shadow. It is based on the characteristics of Limelight and Shadow and a reflection of how our daily lives can reflect on Limelight and Shadow. Each has its own power yet the reward lies in being humble no matter where one reaches in life. The beauty of Shadow is felt in its silence while the Dominance of Limelight is shown in its rude behaviour which ultimately looses its Limelight
