Broken heart, broken soul

Tell me I haven't lost you,
Tell me you forgave me,
Tell me I'm not alone,
Tell me you'll come back home.

Tears rolling down your face,
Tears that I caused,
Thought you needed it, so I gave you space,
But without you, my darling, my life paused.

Let me glue the pieces of your broken heart,
Give us a second chance for a fresh start,
The sadness in your eyes will forever be on my part,
I don't want us to be apart.

Your once warm eyes are now staring back at me lifeless,
Guilt is building up inside me as I held your cold body,
Kissing each of your hands, my lips are now bloody,
In that moment I realised you were my weakness.

They came and took you away from my arms,
You left thinking I didn't care, that you won't cause any harm,
Now you're one of those shining stars,
You left and caused in your wake permanent scars.

Tears rolling down my face,
Sobs filling the empty space,
Look at what you caused,
Now because of you, my life will forever be on pause.

About this poem

You broke the heart of the love of your life, you wanted forgiveness, and as you were about to ask for a second chance, you lost them forever.
