Am I good enough?
When I see my parents working around the clock,
Their efforts for us just never stop,
And yet when I don't live up to the mark,
Failing them at times and their eyes lose that spark,
I wonder whether am I good enough?
When I see friendships falling,
Due to petty misunderstandings,
When the good times doesn't matter,
And moving on feels better.
Attachments fade and only the memories remain.
I wonder whether am I good enough?
When I see people excelling with flying colours,
And here I am still finding my place in the world,
No, it's not jealousy or envy,
Maybe just a lack of self belief,
I wonder whether am I good enough?
Humans are emotional beings,
Dependance is their tendency,
Which might be a person, a goal or their dreams,
Without getting it everything feels incomplete.
And then the void it creates is a home to anxiety.
Making me wonder whether am I good enough?
Who am I?
A surname? A caste? A creed?
A race? A face? A species?
Do they really make me a human being?
Or are these just the tip of the icerberg which is me?
These things that we cherish,
Are actually materialistic and they perish,
People live through impacts,
Not through labels but their acts.
Through acts of kindness :
A comforting smile,
A consoling hug,
A helping hand,
Few words of love.
Long night talks,
Or a beach walk.
As little as they seem,
Good things live through vibes,
It heals hearts,
It kindles hope,
It nourishes sensibility,
It builds up integrity.
These things transcend time.
Words are forgotten but values live by.
And maybe that is the first step....to be good enough.
