Free verse
I watch as my mother reaches for another candy
A temptation with a wrapper sealed tightly on
I beg and beg for her not to give in
"Do it for me", I plead
Yet I am forced to uncover it again and again
The scent of addiction
Hanging in the air
It ruins this family
Betrayed generations
And it’s infected my home.

About this poem

this poem is dedicated to my family's history of drug addiction, and how it affected me negativley.
