For Dale

I have recollected your remains,
The texture of your bare hands
And the warmth that you offered
In the profundity of my soul.
You had loved me as though I am a rose
That bled scarlet tears and wear
Ever so many flounces of petals.

And when our clocks disappeared
You uttered your worries and regrets.
We shared perplexing fears at dawn
And melancholia at night.
You have devoured my name
And still, you collapsed like a fainting star
During the Earth's darkest hour.

The ensuing nights floated in stillness,
And we became distant to our hearts.
Our luminescent lamp . . .
. . . turned dull and feeble,
Until it can no longer extend its bliss.
My old love, I waited for your sun,
Only to witness how you offered roses
In someone else's hand.
