Birthday

Morrow is the day ;
The day of my birth-day,
Every year at the end of May,
I could never celebrate my birthday.

I woke up early,
I felt a little melancholy,
Losing all the strength I had like a withered petal holding on to the flower,
Trying my best to not collapse.

A glimpse of that whited sepulcher;
Whom I killed brutally.
The shade of his appearing on this day,
Making me shiver endlessly.

A glimpse of his ichor dripping,
His expressionless blue face,
Looking at me without a sense of fear,
My trauma brought back to life again.

It just keeps getting worse each year;
Birthdays I could never celebrate.
Still seeing his shade wander,
Waiting for me to surrender.

About this poem

I wrote this poem thinking about how one memorable day can change the life of a person. We think about how happy our birthday would be, celebrating it with our family or maybe alone. Birthday is a day which comes only once in an year, how pathetic would the life of a person be if something tragic happens on that day ?

Abitha

I am a Sri Lankan, I am a student and writing poems is my hobby. I grew up surrounded by my parents who loved and cared a lot of me and I am still looked after by my parents who still love and care for me. Even though I didn’t realize how much they care for me until a while. I love them with all my heart. I wanted to become a better person, that’s when I started writing poems, and I really hope I become successful one day by becoming a doctor and a poet. I want to help everyone around me… more…
