Stupid to think you'd be there
To think you'd give your time
In such a shortened life
and such a busy time

Stupid to think you're lonely
Enough to show you care
In this a great big world
the tiny piece I share

Stupid to think I mattered
In every waking moment
In total control of your love
and where you felt its place

Stupid to think so hard
My fingers all but bled
In times of war and peace
times whole countries have fled

Stupid to think of you
to knock upon your door
drop your jaw with a poem
sit and wait for applause
