The Sun on a Cold Day

I wasn’t looking for you when I met you. Tunnel visioned to my goals, you came crashing in. Not like Katrina or Ida. It was subtle, but mischievous. “Your sweaters” became “our sweaters”. Your family, mine. A feeling I was certain was only for movie screens. Hand in hand.  Sunsets and flowers. Swimming with the stars. You took my best and made her better. I was fine on my own. Content with the love I carried for myself. In love with the abundance. My guard held high. Going nowhere with no one but me. Unstoppable. But, Then you looked at me. Said “come bother me”. Your blue eyes touched my soul like the sun on a cold day. You saw the beauty in things I didn’t even notice. Suddenly, everything that didn’t make sense did. A love so gentle and innocent. As if I'm the character in the love stories. Your love has the power to make a 1000 poets speechless. Your love is the sun on a cold day.
