My smile

Who am I, you might wonder

My face is only a cover

My smiles are one that may make you ponder

For without them I won’t be able to hide

The sadness that I try to keep locked inside

But if you look closer into my eyes

You may discover my disguise

For I am not a girl with a jolly soul

I am one with a sadness so deep I can’t control

Alone I suffer by myself through the night

And when the sun rises, I pretend to be alright

I put up my fake smile and pretend to be ok

But only if they knew that though the lies I was going through so may things that I couldn’t even say

I Just wish to be out of this cage and be released from these chains

And the sadness, disappointment and anger that run through my veins

But I know that the end is near

For I shall leave my cage

And leave it with no fear

For freedom is all I crave...

About this poem

I wrote this poem when I was going through really bad things. It is a poem for those that can't show or bring out their real selves, it is a poem for those that are going through so much and no one around them realises that not even the ones closest to them, it is a poem for those that are going through so much pain that it is eating them alive and they cover it up by putting a smile on their face
