Like a Magician’s Wand

You bewilder me sometimes,
like a magician’s wand.
Magical, but once you learn the trick,
it looks as easy as pie.
We used to eat that pie together,
now the birds eat them.

Why did you let the birds eat them?
Why did you share the pie with me?
Why did you teach me the magic?

The white became black
and the black became white.
Just like how you and I.

We were as real as the magician’s wand.

About this poem

The feeling of being betrayed and played by a loved one. The realisation of how naive one has been.
