Guarded hearts

Free verse
Here,
Everyone's on defense,
A scar here,
A broken heart there,
We live in a world where all want to be loved:
But have nothing it takes to love,
Where our bodies fall,
But our hearts don't seem to fall at all,
We're so eager for a rush,
A warmth that keeps our hearts alive,
We love; still with sanity,
I thought love was the path to insanity?
We show affection without vulnerability,
What then is love when our hearts can't be bare?

About this poem

This is a poem about how different love is in this generation. Of how we want love and try to give love but with our hearts closed and unshaken invulnerability
