Broken Warrior

Broken Warrior

I smell the moister in the air
The rain is coming
I see this old willow tree
As I walk to it
I sit under it
The rain pours
Upon this muddy ground
I hear the rain
Pings in the rhythm of my heart beat
I remove my helmet
I see the scraps and slashes
I see minor dents
The rain soaks my head
The pain and sorrow washes away
I look down at my breast plate
I see the rain drops rolling through
The cracks, dents and slices
I thought to myself
I have dreamed, dreams
Yet, my dreams are reality
I look at my forearm Guards
I see how broken they are
How they protected me
I remove my grieves
I see the scrapes and dents
I begin to laugh
Wondering how did I survive
The War within
I finally remove my Breast plate
My first love, I caress my breast plate
I cry, wondering why I didn’t die
Looking at my Armor laying in the mud
I look for The Sword and Shield of Time
The Sword of Time laying on my left side
The Shield of Time Laying on my right side
I see they are bent cracked and dented
Yet, they are not broken
I lay my breast plate
On the root of this old willow tree
I lay my head down
I tell my self finally the war is truly over
The Broken Warrior
Rests under the old willow tree
The Broken Warrior is Me
