3 hours of sleep before a big day

Neil Dave 1993

I feel like a cigarette mostly turned to ash
Thoroughly smoked, dragged out
Frayed at the front, chewed at the back
Flicked into a gutter, or stomped into a sidewalk
Most of me coating another's lungs,
Staining their crooked teeth
Or simply blown into the air
What's left is smaller
shriveled up
less potent
but there is enough left to
go up in flames
Enough of me for one long drag
That just might get me through this day
