All My Teeth Are Gone

Oliver Chesnut 2003 (West Virginia)

Eyes open
Pit
Hole
No limbs tangled in limbs
No snoring
No other half

In kitchen
Hallucinations of
Laughter
Aroma
Dinner

Cigarette to lips
Lighter opens
Flash
Image
Close lipped grin with cigarette hanging out

Back in bed
Day is over
Nothing done
Do it all
Over again.

About this poem

This poem is about a breakup, not necessarily one that I had, but more about the feeling of a breakup. The feeling of doing mundane tasks without the luxury of having someone to share them with.
