State of decay

Justyn Dagg 1973 (Blackburn)

I'm feeling nervous and I'm feeling like the prey
Panic stricken now each and every day.
I can't focus and I just can't find
any of the answers that could ease my mind.

I see oppression, depression, confusion and lost souls
my friends around me losing their control.
I feel the heat of the pain as it burns me inside
and I can't find any sanctuary in which I can hide.

It's no good this world is without love
I'm on a battle ground a broken twisted dove.
When will it end, will I be okay
I've had too much of this state of decay.

I pinch myself to check if I'm asleep
the only reasonable explanation for the things i see.
yet I'm awake! Do you know how much that hurts
of course you do I'm not the only one burnt.

We see the suffering of children in their lost worlds
trapped inside a darkness waiting to be healed.
We see the pressure building and set to explode
we feel fear for a story to be told.

I close my eyes for they begin to sting
aflame with tears for what the visions bring.
When will it end, will I be okay
I've had too much of this state of decay.

I'm feeling angry, mistreated and abused
empty in my loneliness I feel used.
I feel betrayed and lie to all my lie
political agenda taking me on a one way ride.

But then I see a light from somewhere in the dark
reflecting from a place deep within my heart.
Telling me with pride I could make a stand
with a little faith I could be one with the land.

I begin to tremble and I begin to shake
I become unhinged blinded by the hate.
When will it end, will I be okay
I've had too much of this state of decay.
