Larger Than Life

Now, larger than life he shall always be
That big boy, from a small town was he
A precious child, should’ve been for his parents
He kept performing their duties with perseverance
Heeding to the absurd terms of society and culture
Sadness and anger became his holy scriptures
No one saw him for who he really was
Made him feel he wasn’t good enough at all
Mockery and ridicule, left him subdued
With no true love, he was left in solitude
Emotional and sentimental still on the inside
He stood strong and smiling on the outside
Friends, family, made him feel non-existent
Lost his trust in all around him that existed
His wishes and dreams, they called a whim
All they did was used him, for them to swim
Not able to let go of all the misery he gained
Pushed along for years did he in pain

Deep desire within, wanted a peaceful shore
His lost soul went out the door seeking more
Moved out of home, to stand on his own feet
Educated, re-cultivated himself, taking no defeat
Met a pretty girl, right place, in right time
Love was in the air and wedding bells did chime
They raise three little musketeers without any fears
Continuing as partners, best friends, thru all years
But needless to say, unrest within him still lay
His past, his identity, had him at nights slay
A journey, he became determined to set forth on
To self-realization, self-actualization, he was drawn
Finding and understanding himself in bits and pieces
Following imposed ridiculous practices now ceases
Brushing away the fears that haunt and spook
Calmly mediating and changing his life's outlook
Rebuilding his values and his smart-ass looks
Confidence, vigor, happiness, from him now hook

Learning to appreciate all that life does bring
Happiness from his inside is starting to sing
Has stood himself up without any assistance
More successful and filled with persistence
Giving back to the society with all his heart
Warm and compassionate doc doing his part
Nothing can now slow him down in his path
He’s like a strong wind blowing with wrath
His dreams and goals, large and impressive
Hard work and thoughts make him progressive
If your friends with this guy you gotta know
He doesn’t let his feelings easily show
Little fearful to feel love and let it grow
He's a friend for life with whom you can flow
Romantic, fun and naughty, he can be for real
When he closes his mind and uses his heart to feel
A lot more I can say about him and never end
So, Happy Birthday, life's most treasured, more than a friend!!

Mahesh Wadhwani

I always apologize for the length of my text as that’s the best way for me to communicate rather than verbally!! Not a man of many words but still manage to doodle when in mood to write, which is rare!! I am not even sure if what I scribble is poetry or even what form or just words that rhyme!! To me writing is an art, a sign of creativity and a means of expression. I don't really think that anyone can just write without any feelings, without having felt, without having lived, experienced or cherished. Whatever one writes, there is some amount of a persons own feelings and presence or of those around them, indicated in the works. So I am thankful to all the people in my life and those yet to come for having given me life, love, happiness and even pain. At-least I have had the opportunity to feel it , live it and express it, whatever it maybe. Cheers! more…
