A Father to All

Adjekawen A. Jeremiah 1998 (Delta State, Nigeria)

If I could write a story,
It would be the greatest ever told
I’d write about sir Antony
He has a heart of gold

He never looks for praises
Kind and loving
His shoulders not he raises
Fun to be with

You are a father to all
Not by words
You are a friend indeed
With whom my soul agrees
A colleague at law
True to the call

He loved press law
Yes, but cons’ law more
He would aid fun with memories, saying:
How can we forget our dear Richard in a hurry?
Laughing, he’d spice the fun
There’s no other way in spelling 'mandamus'
Jokes he crack for free
His simplicity grows not on trees

July fourth is special, a day
Happy birthday sir
No other date could birth a father great
Age with grace.
