Tithe Means Ten Percent
Tithe Means Ten Percent
Author: Mark V. Markov
Tithe means ten percent
When we give ten percent to God
We honor Elohim
With the resources
That we are blessed with
So Elohim blesses us more.
Everything belongs to God
As Holy Scripture says
"All the cattle
And all the hills
Are mine" says the Lord
Everything belongs to our Creator
To the Creator of all life
As we honor Holy Trinity
As we honor Elohim
When we give financially
When we always tithe
The ten percent of our income
We show appreciation and reverence
To our Creator
Tithe means ten percent
When we give ten percent to God
We honor Elohim
With the resources
That we are blessed with
When we are rich towards God
When we give
Whether it is to a Church
A gathering place of worship
Or to a charity
That does God's will
That helps others in need
As we always give the tithe
We will always stay blessed
Even sometimes
If you have to fast a few days
Just as long as you give to God
The tithe
It is worth it
Tithe means ten percent
When we give ten percent to God
We honor Elohim
With the resources
That we are blessed with
Since eventually
You will become blessed
And will not be
In the dire circumstance
Where you cannot afford to tithe
The ten percent
It is worth to pass
on any luxury
Just as long as you pay the ten percent
Because in the long run
As long as you will always give to God
You will always be blessed...
Psalm 50:10-14 (ESV)
10
For every beast of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
11
I know all the birds of the hills,
and all that moves in the field is mine.
12
“If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
for the world and its fullness are mine.
13
Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?
14
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High,
Malachi 3:8-12 (ESV)
8 Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say,
‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions.
9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you.
10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts,
if I will not open the windows of heaven for you
and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
11 I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil,
and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts.
12 Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.
Luke 12:16-21 (ESV)
16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully,
17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’
18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones,
and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years;
relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’
20 But God said to him,
‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared,
whose will they be?’
21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
Psalm 50:1-15 (ESV)
1 The Mighty One, God the Lord,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to its setting.
2
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,
God shines forth.
3
Our God comes; he does not keep silence;
before him is a devouring fire,
around him a mighty tempest.
4
He calls to the heavens above
and to the earth, that he may judge his people:
5
“Gather to me my faithful ones,
who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”
6
The heavens declare his righteousness,
for God himself is judge! Selah
7
“Hear, O my people, and I will speak;
O Israel, I will testify against you.
I am God, your God.
8
Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you;
your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9
I will not accept a bull from your house
or goats from your folds.
14
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and perform your vows to the Most High,
15
and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
A tithe (/taɪð/; from Old English: teogoþa "tenth") is a one-tenth part of something,
paid as a contribution to a religious organization or compulsory tax to government.
Today, tithes are normally voluntary and paid in cash or cheques,
whereas historically tithes were required and paid in kind, such as agricultural produce.
After the separation of church and state, church tax linked to the tax system
are instead used in many countries to support their national church.
Many Christian denominations hold Jesus taught that tithing must be done in conjunction
with a deep concern for "justice, mercy and faithfulness" (cf. Matthew 23:23).
Tithing was taught at early Christian church councils, including the Council of Tours in 567,
as well as the Third Council of Mâcon in 585.
Tithing remains an important doctrine in many Christian denominations,
such as the Congregationalist Churches, Methodist Churches and Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Some Christian Churches, such as those in the Methodist tradition,
teach the concept of Storehouse Tithing,
which emphasizes that tithes must be prioritized and given to the local church,
before offerings can be made to apostolates or charities.
Donations to the Church beyond what is owed in the tithe are known as offerings.
Traditional Jewish law and practice has included various forms of tithing since ancient times.
Orthodox Jews commonly practice ma'aser kesafim (tithing 10% of their income to charity).
In modern Israel, some religious Jews continue to follow the laws of agricultural tithing,
e.g., ma'aser rishon, terumat ma'aser, and ma'aser sheni.
