Levity

Open adult eyes hide childhood pain
1000 little cuts with word and intention
Our hearts recoil in horror
Protect the soft spots with hard eyes
Float around like a ghost
Screams of pain in the silence
My hoarding house of memories overflow
Spilling out and washing away my protections
The world and I are broken and my hands yearn to heal.

About this poem

I just recently got out of a dark period of my life and these were just some of the things that were banging around in my head. I've gotten help since then but it still feels kind of raw.
