Hard Knocks

I'm from the school of Hard Knocks
There I spent many years
Conducting lessons repeatedly
I couldn't seem to adhere
So many wounds layed open
From my life of hardships
Always feeling broken
From my self inflicted kicks
I'm not sure when I decided
To not admit self defeat
And go with the flow
By standing on my two feet
I do know that ever since
It feels great to say
I graduated from that school
And went on my merry way
The lessons that I learned
Made me who I am today
And gave me strength to carry on
By simply be proud
Of the me I have become
