hang out with grandpa..
The lord took him
Before we met
I never even got
a fair chance
Sometimes I go back
Think how it would have been
Had I gotten
To meet him
The only way
I've seen his face
Is in a picture
In a dusty old frame
Never saw him smile
Never saw him laugh
Man, I wish I could have had
Just one day to sit and talk
With the man, I know little about
Man, what I'd give
Just to hang out with Grandpa
I know his halo
Was an old ball cap
I know his grandkids
Loved to sit on his lap
And watch cartoons
On Sundays before church
I know he worked a farm
For over thirty years
But I wouldn’t know his voice
If I were to hear him say
Hey buddy
How'r you doing thesе days
Man, it sure is a shame that
The only way
I'vе saw his face
Is in a picture
In a dusty old frame
Never saw him smile
Never saw him laugh
Man, I wish I could have had
Just one day to sit and talk
With the man, I know little about
Man, what I'd give
Just to hang out with Grandpa
But he’s up there in those clouds right now
Looking down saying
That; the only way
He’s seen my face
Is in a picture
In a dusty old frame
He’s never seen me smile
He’s never seen me laugh
Man, I wish I could have had
Just one day to sit and talk
With the boy, I know little about
Man, what I'd give
Just to hang out with my grandson
But I'll just wait
‘til the day he comes home
So, he can hang out with grandpa
