Sacred winds on ancient pines

Sacred winds on ancient pines
Ceremonial prayer for mother earth

Winded pine in covered snow
withered bark of trembled song
whose roots its strength is given

From fires past its seeds were cast from
fallen cones that did unwind in microbial mulch
in primordial soup of  life

Emerald green we sing your praise
of needle pine in lichen moss on wetted
stone   embrace the living force

Into a circle of natures light in rites of spring
from Big Sur where cypress sets on jetted crags reach out
to Frisco’s bay
to bogs and barrens on jerseys shores
we sing our earthly songs

Wake stop and listen
come sit in silent wonder
smell the scents watch the stars that sing of
nature’s splendor

Where west meets east and turns the foe to friend
upon a welcome sun
