Ally

“I’m an ally!” Thank you for that? Thank you for not being homophobic? Thank you for being a decent person? Why do we worship them like an ever reigning majesty? We thank them for not hating us. Thank you for not wanting me to die for loving a woman! But we hear homophobia so often that it becomes normal. “Your confused” “pick a side” “I’m defending biological sex” “God hates you” “You will go to hell” “Kill yourself.” Wow it isn’t all rainbows and flags waving in the same glory that we hold a trophy. Homophobia has become so common that we worship allies like gods. And people get mad that we get a whole month when you get the other 11! Pride month is one of the months we get it worse. Hate crimes and death threats. So many words. Words that flash in my head. Words that make me wish I was dead. A lot of lgbt  youth would rather die than be who they are and that is because of the world WE are building. Step up. Silence is just as bad as violence. But hey, you’re an ally. We are so used to assault that we turn human decency into pleasure only for rare occasions. And it’s not that we don’t need allies. We do but we should not worship them like we are an ant and they are our food. Ally, thank you. But we need to step up and make a safe place for future generations.
