The Old Sojourner

Oh to be a poet  and write an ode
Inspiration comes in deep moments of thought,
For vital words that make you think, I am told
Must be in a life, tried and tested, to be sought.

Sometimes things are not always what they should be,
The seasons of life come and go,
Our lives are an open book for others to see
Full of good memories, and some not so.

Time moves so slowly and time can do so much
Tis true, and a wonderful ballad to hear,
Music makes the world go around as such
If you have a listening ear.

The many years can be bittersweet,
Reflections of the past seem greater day by day,
Life is fleeting, the past is long, that is my beat,
Everyone travels this road, one would say.

But this much  traveled road, I trod,
It's my own journey, I made it so,
This life I put forward is my abode,
No regrets, it is a natural flow.

God is my oath, the meaning of her name,
To have a family, I am indeed so blest,
There are moments of bliss, but it will not be the same,
But in the end, it is for the best.

Three score and ten, a normal life I am told,
Even four score by means of life so strengthen,
Devoted words to say, to have and to hold
And I love you, these words never to be forsaken.

My future is so very bright,
I yearn for that celestial  shore,
For I have trusted the One in Heavenly sight,
For my weary soul has wings to soar.

God has a wonderful Home for us before death,
In His Word, He has promised to all mankind
For those who truly believe in Him, we are blest,
Just look up in the Bible - John 3 :16, life's final sign !
