A Question of Friendship

Jael Wright 1954 (Clarkville, TN)

I saw you as you walked by, friend, head held down,
Contemplating the road ahead?
Pondering each step precariously as if it were your last.
Where are you going?
Is there room for one more on your journey?
I’ll help you carry the load.
