Floating With The Stars

Here I lay
With heavy limbs; grass all around me
Gazing up into the vast emptiness called
Home
Longing to reach my hands up and be amongst the stars
Only then will I truly comprehend the insignificance of our very existence
Amongst the stars I feel small
I float around and hear to what they say
Listen closely and whispers start to surround me
Reminding me of the things I hold dear
The distant train bells
The scattered evidence of human life
The hum of the lamp post
All soon to be quiet
Amongst the stars
Everything matters
Nothing matters
And as I lay in the grass with this knowledge,
I feel a bittersweet sense of dread
Someday
One day
I'll feel free with this knowledge
