Modern Day Love

never wanted a prince charming,
never had my expectations too high,
just wanted someone to come along,
and see me for me,
sweep me up off my feet,
and kiss me so passionately,
but it’s the 21st century,
so all i do is sit and listen,
to the boys boast about themselves,
in desperate hopes of attention,
yet i’ll still daydream that maybe one day,
they’ll put themselves aside,
and think about what we all want instead,
maybe then we’ll believe in love again.
