AS IF

As if the sun could rise and not bring her brilliant light,   Or an absent-minded moon came up forgetting to tell the night.

Would you be surprised if the oceans lied?
While the shores shed tears,
Sank all the piers,
And blamed it on the tide.

About this poem

This poem was written in response to a relationship, where the female wanted him to act as a friend and hide his true feelings for her. He was trying to convey to her how impossible this would be.
