I Played Rock Paper Scissors In The Mirror...And Lost

We want the power of the divine and don’t consider the cost,
No fun and games; I played rocks paper scissors in the mirror and lost.
Rock beats scissors, that adds up. I’m just glad it’s you
Then you look up at the mirror and see that there’s no one staring back at you
Damn.

There’s a knock at the front door, the phone starts ringing, the back door slides open — your arm starts stinging

The needle moves, the floor shakes, you’re surrounded by mist,
The needle breaks, The floor falls, your bound by the wrists
You enter a zone far far away from home... where time and sound doesn't exist

You taste colors and hear dreams, fear isn’t what fear seems
Cry from happiness or misery, tears aren’t what tears seem

Then dark clouds form, wraiths and phantoms start circling you,
They're talking bout hurting you
You curse names and wish pain to all who deserted you

You get hit from a distance, collapse in an instance
Fall cushioned by an entity with more presence than a rich kid's Christmas...mmmm

A stone so heavy he can’t lift it is lifted
A gray Rubix cube is solved any way that you twist it

Colorless world is what you’re seeing
Roamed by monsters, ghouls, 4th 5th 7th dimensional beings

That breed in water worlds,
seeing creatures..sea creatures. Its as off as off gets,
I'm sleeping with piranhas, I’m napping with the Loch Ness (he’s got a long neck

About this poem

One day during self-isolation, Mr.SmartCity played Rock Paper Scissors in the mirror. He drew a rock ….while his own reflection in the mirror showed him holding scissors. That set off a panic that kickstarted a series of ethereal events that are almost impossible to describe. This poem does its best to recreate the visuals and auditory hallucinations —or spiritual visions — that ensued. A vivid recount of an episode of psychosis and hallucination induced from a 2 year self-isolation period where Mr. SmartCity locked himself in a room and disconnected from all social media, TV, Movies, and leisurely social interaction. During this time Mr.SmartCity wrote 7 books, 50+ spoken word poems, and achieved sobriety. The importance of social interaction and communicating with other humans is important. The side effects of withdrawing socially are harsh. Add stress from devastating events and lack of sleep to the mix and you have the perfect ingredients for distorted visions and hallucinations.
