Gypsy

Michael McDowell 1976 (United States)

I’m wide awake,
For the first time in years,

The walls are back up,
Guess you can say the cause is fear,

How foolish was I,
To believe in forever,

I was only your love,
During stormy weather,

It felt so real,
I felt so alive,
But deep down inside
For I knew it was a lie,

Sleepless night,
How they make me remember,
The broken promises of forever,

Eyes blue as the ocean,
A kiss that stopped my heart,
You were my gypsy,
I was your clown,

How foolish was I,
To believe in forever,

You belonged to another,
I was only your love,
During stormy weather,

I wonder if you remember me,
I wonder if you even care,
I wonder if you happy,
Goddamn it,
Why do I still care,
