The Lost Book of Love

She was the book, he never read
the untold story... others said
The rarest book, of any kind
pages written, from heart and mind
This wondrous book she gifted him
the only edition, lovingly penned
written with ink, of blood and tears
raw emotions, hopes and fears
Illustrations of days gone by
The coming of her Prince, in chapter five
The intense love, she had found
tender dreams, making one's heart pound
He never took time, to read the book
never gave it, a second look
Illiterate to her tender words
poetic pens, were never heard
Guilded pages, bound with emotion
holding expressions, of deep devotion
He never knew, the treasure he had
letting it slip, from his careless hands
Inside the cover, there can be found
the dedication, most profound
Salutations, "To my cherished, Chris"
Signed with love......and a lipstick kiss
He casually tossed it, by the way
Words she longed, to always say
Written to the pages, the ink shall dry
while the words of devotion, are left to die...

How many times have we cast love aside or simply not recognize what was before us...
