Light in the darkness
Ashley Ozias 1985 (Ohio)
I was lost in the darkness. Dead silence. Not even the moon shown on me that night. Not a creature made a sound. The stars had retreated into the galaxy as if they never existed. In a distance I started to hear a faint whisper. A magnetic pull was reeling me in, deeper into the woods in search of something that could save me or literally rip me to shreds. Fears aside, there was something so comforting in the whisper I heard beyond the darkness. They grew louder and more frequent now changing into different frequencies. You're strong, you've got this, you are loved, you are safe. Surrounded in these whispers, a shooting star crossed the sky almost as if it was purposely put there to show me the way. I follow. I make it to the edge of the woods, and it is but a blinding white light with a euphoric energy radiating off of it. Again I put my fears aside and I followed. Do you know what I found on the other side? I found love, wholeness, peace, happiness, tranquility, warmth. I found you. See my whole life I have been walking blindly through the world just following whispers in all different directions unsure of which way to go and never feeling whole while trying not to trip over the depths of the darkness and roots on the forest floor. Then the shooting star which is you showed me the way and led me into the most beautiful, loving light and showed me a world I could once only have dreamt of.
About this poem
It is simply about the power of love. All love, in any form. It transcends through time and makes the impossible possible. Inspired by my soon to be husband. Rocky Dior
