Left behind

Kaleb Gibson 2003 (North Carolina)

You say you love me but want to leave
You say you care but cause the pain
Because I grew numb to emotions
From a life of sadness and anguish
And you came in and said you can make it all change
Happiness, love, and support are some of the things you brought
And brought feeling to my life
But then you took them all when you walked away
Leaving me no longer numb but exposed to what remained
My life of sadness and anguish came flooding back
Swooping in when I couldn’t hold it back
I think of how you would feel if you knew how I ended up
And then I realize that might be why
You completely walked away

About this poem

It is about me dealing with the person I trusted most to not abandon me leaving
