In The Shadow Behind Me

Standing still waiting to be discovered
Like a lost relic buried in the desert
I will be saved by my one true love

It’s magical thinking
Little girl dreaming
Searching for the happy ending that never ends

From conception
Resting in a womb
Woven of fairytales and lace

Wrapped in silk
And sprinkled with stardust
A wish filled baptism

A testament of faith
He will find me
And I will be complete

I regurgitate the spoon-fed indoctrination
My throat burns
The bitter taste of freedom

The never ending if I had only
Is but a whisper
From a voice I no longer recognize

That young girl is where she should be
Not in front
But in the shadow behind me

Great insight about where the child within needs to be.

I enjoyed reading it. A lot of it echoed myself and a specific dream I once had. Much like that girl was waiting to be found, I feel I am stuck waiting to find the right girl. I had a dream that I was in a desert and found my dream girl. As I got closer to her she started slipping away into the sands. There was nothing I could do to save her and I still wonder if she was as perfect as she seemed to be as she reached out for me. I actually had written a poem about said dream the day after waking from it.
