What Girls Do

Isn't this what girls do?
I take off my shirt
like you ask
you tell me this is what girls do
i let you explore me
like you wanted
this is what girls do.
I say, to myself
every place i've been touched by you
is gaping open
bleeding and crying out
every ocean of you falling inside of me
licking itself up in my crevasses
you hurt me
like you wanted
is this what girls do?
you tell me everything i want to hear
The words pick me up and
lay me on my back
I convince myself
this is what girls do.
you get Angry
angry when I say no
i want to make you happy
you get so angry.
You strangle me with your hate
your fingers curl around my throat
and so my fingers curl around you.
when I am not enough
you leave to swim in another
fill her with the oceans of pretty words
This is what girls do
my friend says
I watch tears race down her face
over a boy who told her
the same thing
You must gawk in my nakedness
you must tear at my spirit
spitting pieces of me from your mouth
stuck between your teeth
Like a wolf licking at a helpless carcass
is that the sacrifice
I have to make for you
for you to bestow a fleeting praise upon me
to fill me up for a second of a million moments
is that what girls do?
