Propaganda
“Does the wind blow today?”
will I be shoved from behind
through a small, unnoticeable crevice into
an unlike world where my thoughts run
in all directions at once
never quite assembling at day’s end
leaving me utterly confused but happy?
“Does the wind blow elsewhere?”
will I be let to stand where I should please
to observe this place where I live
ignoring its ugliness and recognizing
but making excuses for
its selfishness
pretending to be satisfied with the answer?
“Does the wind blow at all?”
or have I been betrayed all along into believing
in falsehoods and justifications
using them as cornerstones on which to base
religion and politics…
would I rather be here where I can’t know if it’s all a lie
or be some place where I know it is?
