Another Way Down
On halfway of my journey in the earth realm
I left all dear to my heart behind
The memories, the promises, and all
The time just cannot rewind
But will eventually untwine
In me who’s standing at the doors
Being torn apart by ego wars
I set myself redeemed for going under
And trip into the land of dead began.
It was an everlasting night
Without a glimpse of daylight presence
And me, the only spark of life
Unnaturally breathing vital essence
Attracting sights of thousand eyes
Accompanied by distant howls
Those poor souls – they fall and rise
When cold wind blows and thunder growls
They suffer there and know no peace
And hitherto were pleading pleas
To some unknown gods of many kinds
Who are tormenting their minds
Not allegorically but in extenso speaking
I heard them yelling, mourning, weeping
In this profoundly evil place
I had to double on my trace
Infested by some gruesome visions
I felt that I was chased
And pushed to keep on walking
Beyond semantic limitations
Of the noetic constellations
That I brought up with me
Constituents of my own self
Abyss of which I had to delve
So either me, or someone else
Led me in haste to somber woods
Too dark to see the roots
Of deeds recycled in Samsara
The merciless and horrific brutes
Bring on the worst when you’re alone
The visions that you can’t atone
In self-repeating infernal undertone
My guide is at the edge of nowhere
It beckons me to leave my quest
It’s so much easier to put it all to rest
As I keep on to see the last resort
Resisting inner urge to flee as dead exhort
To end my hero’s journey
But I do know
My life will never be the same
If I attempt to tame this flame
About this poem
Inspired by Dante Alighieri' Divine Comedy, I wanted to produce something similar but a little bit darker and more philosophical. Maybe, I have succeeded.
