American Character

American Character 1984 (Warren, Ohio)

Overcoming adversity,

Can Certainly build character?

Well, I'm a mixed mutt American,

recovering from heroin.

Trust me,

I'm completely aware of it!

Humbled, and no longer arrogant,

Finally starting to care again,

I refuse to let this be my narrative!

But Personally,

The worst for me,

I'm burning alive internally!

Realizing,

That the ones concerned for me,

Are the ones I'm always hurting undeservingly!

About this poem

Explaining my personal struggles with drug addiction. These are my real feelings.
