Tom Squires 1960 (Syracuse)
Love comes along an innocent rider
a train going which way
and ask you no questions
or take down your number
but slow you so plenty
you cannot see straight
or count your own fingers
or walk down the sidewalk
Love is a picture of a hurricane waiting
a woman who loves you
the power within her
to take you down long roads
and show you the meaning
of patience in questions
from circumstance trying
Of quiet in morning
and slow steady footsteps
And birdsong that tell us
they come from the long night
yet sing for the angels
