Monument to Me

ego is the monument to true self
i attempt to build
on the shifting sands
that are my insecurities

each new brick laid
quickly crumbling to the ground
at the slightest hint
of foul weather

where i desire a shrine to enlightenment stand
instead lies a pile of growth and good ideas
tall enough
and broad enough
to cover the scars
